Evo Air Scoops

Our Evo Air Scoops are formed simply from white plastic tea spoons, courtesy of our local garden centre. A couple of spoons come with the 'Evo' Hardware Pack; similarly in our Tea Racer and Scramjet kits. Initially cut off and set aside the handle for use as a mixing stick. The bowl itself should be well warmed by sitting in a cup of hot water. Trim to shape with long blade scissors, working towards the widest part. Nibbling away small slivers is the best method and avoids splitting the material. A small coping saw will also work, followed by gently sanding the sawn edge with  a fine grade of sandpaper.
The scoop flat base edge can be Evo-Stik glued 10mm rearwards of the Evo hatch opening, having first cut out the air inlet hole through the spine piece and wing structure below. The laser cut Evo already has a formed hole in the hinged hatch so mount the spoon above. Use 550 tape around the hole edges to guide in the air stream. Place the ESC heatsink where it will benefit from the draught.
